Okay, so here's one of those beds I was going on about before. We've put some semi-permeable membrane down and planted strawbs through it - pics to follow
The next bed has various types of asparagus which isn't very pretty at the moment as it's only a year old and still a bit scrawny.
We have three potato varieties: Cara, Desiree and Marfonia.
They started flowering at the weekend, and have done really well since the storm the other day.
I'll update pics after this weekend.

Nice weather for ducks

We were woken up at 3:25am on Tuesday morning by something that sounded like an explosion, or a gunshot just outside our open window.
For the next 3 hours we were kept awake by something similar to millions of ball bearings being poured on the roof.
Things certainly get wonderfully interesting in North Yorkshire.
Stay tuned for unbelievable coverage of my chilli growing, and maybe the mention of a potato.

Green Fingers

Now I may sound a bit crusty, but there's nothing better than getting caked in mud from digging in the allotment.
After an hour of 'skillfully' bashing several neatly sawn planks of wood together on Sunday we had some nice asymmetric frames for our asparagus and strawberries. I don't really go for symmetry - it's boring.
With any luck we'll have some decent asparagus in a year or so. Colossus, Purple Pacific and Gijnlim... fingers crossed.

Conquering Writer's Block

I think I'm probably a very lazy individual. It's taken me about three years to actually pull my finger out and start a blog. It took me a long time to actually get into Twitter too, and I think some times I tend to get a bit carried away and overtweet (if there is such a verb).
Sometimes I make a fool out of myself, but isn't that one of the reasons for all of this? To have a bit of fun.
Okay, I know there is also a serious side to it all too, but I've got to the age where I've got to stop taking myself too seriously.
Now on to this writer's block thing.
I used to write bucket loads of short stories and plays, but that was back in my teens, and I just can't get back in to it. Whenever I get an idea I scribble it down on a notepad, and then don't do anything about it. A twenty year plus writer's block....................
